Message from  Mr . Francis Mahlangu  Goldfields Tvet College Principal

On behalf of the whole GOLDFIELDS TVET COLLEGE community – a partnership of students and prospective students, lecturers, supporting staff, our partners and all stakeholders. I wish you a convivial welcome as the new Principal of the College with effect from the 1st of November 2016.

The College has enjoyed a great past, contributing much to the prosperity and success stories of our alumni and other stakeholders. For these reasons, it is appropriate when I welcome you into the new academic year-2017, to recall an adage that goes: “stepping on solid ground,” this means working hard, focusing on the fundamentals, and proceeding in a steady and stable fashion. Which is something that will be expected from all students and College personnel, ensuring that the College receives the best representation at international level.

The TVET sector when benchmarked with Traditional Universities and Universities of Technologies is still embryonic and faced with a number of challenges which are being addressed by the Department of Higher Education and Training, however, it would be a disservice to the past and the present to go and rest on our laurels by expecting DHET to unravel all our problems. However, as the College we commit ourselves to improved services and articulation with business and industry for the benefit of our students.

The College is endeavouring and is in a process of reviewing the programmes that we are currently offering. This is to ascertain whether or not our programmes are relevant and responsive to the Local Economic Development at the District municipality/ milieu we operate and service.

In conclusion, let us be constantly cognisant of the academic objectives of the College which are to continually provide outstanding education and vocational programmes that promote a philosophy of learning and develops a diverse business, utility, and engineering student body that is prepared for their specific profession(s), for advanced studies and careers in research at other institutions of learning at the Universities and Universities of Technology.

2017 is a year of Dawn, Awakening, Triumph, and Success that can only be achieved at the price of hard work and patience.

Welcome to Goldfields TVET College!
