Often the people that make the greatest impact on progress are not national leaders, but brilliant men and women of ideas. It is said that many people had no idea that the first notion of the sun’s energy to create power was conceived in 1876, When W.G Adams and R day discovered that a small amount of electricity was formed when selenium cell was visible to the sunlight . The cells were hardly effective, but it was proven that light could be converted into energy.
Three of our Level 2 student at goldfields tvet college, they have also proven to us that, Nowadays solar energy is developing and increasing as technology and science frequently emerging and more people are now getting aware of the positive result that solar energy has on their lives and environment. These student have created a solar Panel Charger which uses recycled material and the sun’s UV rays as a power source. The Solar Panel has 31 warts and 12 voltages and therefore has the capacity to charge two to five cell phones at once and power a radio and connect to the stations free of charge. These innovations were motivated by load shedding, the rate of electricity bill and the need for students to charge their cell phones whilst at campus. These panels reduce climate change and independency on fossil fuels.
Our student’s show that through hard work and dedication more can be achieved their commitment proves that there is more to be expected from them and other fellow students at Goldfields Tvet College. We can’t wait to see what they will be displaying during science expo week next month.
