The quantitative data emanated from the questionnaires completed by 2000 students while the qualitative data emanated from ten focus group interviews, as well as an information-sharing workshop with students and lecturers. The participants’ perceptions of how the industry could be incorporated into TVET activities were thoroughly scrutinised. The study concludes in recommending that all relevant stakeholders need to be given a space in the TVET sector to assist in the development of graduates for the world of work and a transformed society.   Strong links between   South African TVET colleges, the labour market and civil society have to be established in the form of Work Integrated Learning and Workplace Based Experience.
